Beginning of the visit

My guided tours in Lecce will take you to discover the historic center of one of the most fascinating cities in Puglia.
Lecce is known as the Capital of Baroque for its buildings characterized by the golden honey color of the local stone, called pietra leccese.

Porta Napoli and Piazza Duomo

We will start our route from Porta Napoli, the symbol of Charles V and an imposing entrance to the city.
We will continue to Piazza Duomo, where we will admire the majestic Cathedral and Bell Tower, splendid examples of Baroque architecture.

Paisiello Theater and Marrese Palace

Continuing our visit, we will head to Teatro Paisiello, a small jewel of the city, and then to Palazzo Marrese, a magnificent example of a Lecce aristocratic palace.
Each building tells a part of Lecce’s rich cultural history.

Church of St. Irene and Roman Amphitheater

We will visit the Church of St. Irene, the city’s first patron saint, with its imposing facade and richly decorated interior.
Afterwards, we will reach the Roman Amphitheater, the most important theatrical discovery in Apulia, evidence of the city’s long history.

Basilica of the Holy Cross

The highlight of our visit will be the Basilica of Santa Croce, one of the absolute masterpieces of Lecce Baroque, famous for its richly decorated facade and intricate details.

Local Crafts and Gastronomy

During the visit, we will have the opportunity to visit a historic workshop that deals with the processing of papier-mâché, a symbol of local craftsmanship.
We will also talk about the gastronomy of Lecce, with special attention to the famous Caffè Leccese and the delicious pasticciotto, typical specialties of the area.
