My guided tours of Altamura will take you on a discovery of a fascinating town, famous for its bread and rich history.
Altamura is located in the Alta Murgia National Park area, a place of great natural and historical beauty.
We will meet in the heart of the historic center, on Corso Frederick II of Swabia, to begin the guided tour from the Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption.
This cathedral was built directly by Frederick II of Swabia in the 13th century and is a magnificent example of medieval architecture.
We will continue our walk through the narrow streets of the historic center, exploring the so-called “claustri” of Altamura.
These enclosed streets open onto small courtyards, designed by Emperor Frederick II himself.
The claustri offer a unique glimpse into Altamura’s daily life and historic town planning.
Visiting Altamura without spending time on its baked goods would be an incomplete visit.
The town is famous for its PDO bread, known for its crisp crust and soft interior, and for its delicious focaccia with simple tomato.
During the visit, we will have the opportunity to taste these typical products, including sweet cookies and Altamura pie with cod and onion.
We will also be able to visit the Bread Museum to learn about the history and production techniques of this iconic food.

Je pense qu’on n’aurait pas pu avoir une meilleure guide qu’Alessandra. Pédagogue, passionnante, extrêmement professionnelle, j’ai été impressionnée de son savoir. Nous avions des bébés avec nous qui nous empêchaient de suivre complètement. Elle ne s’est pas montrée perturbée par cela et a continué la visite avec beaucoup de bienveillance. Nous avons réalisé la visite de Lecce et Matera avec Alessandra.
