Beginning of the visit

Brindisi, with its natural harbor on the Adriatic coast of Puglia, has been a crossroads of cultures and civilizations, a landing place for pilgrims and a starting point for the Crusades.

Cathedral Square and Cathedral

We will begin our journey from Piazza Duomo, where we will visit the Cathedral of Brindisi.
Here I will tell you about the history of this church and its central role in the religious and social life of the city.
We will also admire the Portico of the Knights Templar, located next to the cathedral, which adds a touch of mystery and medieval charm.

Roman Columns and Temple of St. John at the Sepulcher

A short walk from the cathedral, we will head to the Roman Columns, a symbolic monument of Brindisi located by the harbor.
These columns, dating from the 14th century, represent the ancient landing place of the Appian Way and offer a spectacular vantage point over the harbor.
We will continue with a visit to the Tempietto di San Giovanni al Sepolcro, a place definitely worth a visit.
This monument is a clear testimony to the relationship between Brindisi and the Holy Land, with its fascinating connection to pilgrimages and the Crusades.

Granafei Nervegna Palace and Roman Column Hall.

The visit will continue to Palazzo Granafei Nervegna, a historic building of great architectural beauty.
Inside the palace, we will visit the Hall of the Roman Column, where we can admire the upper part of one of the original Roman columns, a testament to the grandeur of Brindisi’s past.
